Her Sacrifice WIP by sweetangel0467 Her Sacrifice WIP by sweetangel0467

======================
Wow, I thought I would never post a WIP again xD (it doesn't feel good to post a non finished work)
Although I want to make an exception this time.

Lineart [link] is done by Sureya :iconsureya: an artist I've been following as long as I myself have been on dA.
She makes a ton of cute lineart drawings and works on various manga.

Every painting I make, I learn new things :aww:
I start off with a base color and some variations by using pen pressure and a random brush..
checking the greyscales for contrasting values so I'm making sure I don't have to redo stuff.
I've learned to directly start with a color. This makes it easier for me how it's going to look and what the focus of my image should be.
After that I just paint from dark to light. Square brush is my hero in all my works btw. Just a little tweaking with the transfer settings and I'm off to my own world ^^;

As for contrasting color I'm probably going to go for a salmon pink/orange on the tail.

Let me know what you guys think ;)

This is gorgeous. Your coloring is really soft :) Finish it please? haha ;P

Btw I have tried it once to start in black and white and then color but it's impossible! i always get these weird bright colors and stuff =P and it takes a lot more time I think.

This painting was painted in shades of blue and green :P
If I feel like changing colours I just select an area, fill it with that color on a separate layer.. put the layer on color mode and compare.. (color only gives 1 tone in a multiply though.. using more shades of the same color doesn't affect it)

Color balance is also awesome (ctrl +B) it changes the colour you already had to some slightly different one which still matches in the pallet.

I haven't heard of ctrl B, that sounds awesome :D
I'm also thinking of simply doing a black and white drawing sometime. Never really done that digitally :)

You give me all these new things to experiment with whoop! :D

hehe :D have fun ;) if you're really into all of this.. I would recommend this book: [link] I've been reading the first section about composition and it really gives great idea's to try out.. just reading it I wanted to make different kinds of art :D

Black and white is a nice way to work on your values.. making sure you use the wide range of whites, grays and blacks.

The thing is that I own several art books, mostly traditionally or anatomy based and I've only used one really. If I would like to buy it I think I want to be able to turn some pages and see its contents. Also I'm afraid that I won't use it in the end.. but I'm trying to see the other side of it as well :D of how it could help me hmm :)
